 is a dark, adult action-RPG that puts you in the trench coat of Ethan Blackwood, a haunted private investigator forced to confront the city’s supernatural underbelly. Once a decorated detective, Ethan’s life was shattered when a creature of the night murdered his wife, exposing him to the horrifying truth of the world. Now, he operates in the margins, taking the cases that the police won’t (or can’t) touch.

  • New Side Quest: ‘The House on the Edge of Hell’
    • To start, go to Khan’s Firearms and speak to Ali Khan about business.
    • Features new characters, weapons, enemy types, sex scenes, and multiple endings.
    • Note: Decisions made during this quest may have long-term consequences for the main story.
  • Scene Mechanics: Some sex scenes occur automatically, while others require specific decisions or stat combinations to unlock.

    • Bookshelves containing entries now display an indicator icon.

• Found and fixed all cases of duplicate object ID’s, which could cause various issues.

• Ethan’s hitbox now correctly flips when he’s facing left, improving hit detection.

Blackwood 0.3: Blood Money
Major New Features

  • Money & Economy: Money has been introduced to the game. Earn cash by completing quests, winning minigames, or other means.
  • Traders: Spend money at new traders, including Khan’s Firearms. You can now purchase weapons, ammunition, consumables, and other useful goods.
    • (Tip: Hold SHIFT or CTRL while buying/selling to add or subtract items in bulk.)
  • Armed Enemies: NPCs are no longer limited to melee and can wield firearms in combat.
  • Status Effects: A new system of temporary buffs and debuffs has been added. Status effects can be gained from consuming items or through certain in-game events.
    • Alcohol: +10% STR, -5% to all other stats, and -5% max HP for 5 minutes (stacks 3x). Also causes an instant 10% loss of current HP. Moves you +0.1 towards Chaos. Has other… hidden effects.
    • Cigarette: +5% Willpower and -5% Constitution for 5 minutes.
    • Food: +10% HP regeneration speed for 15 minutes.
    • Post-Sex Glow: +10% Constitution and Persuasion for 10 minutes.
    • Note: All stat buffs/debuffs have a minimum effect of at least 1 point per stack.
  • New Minigames: Head to the bar to earn some pounds. New minigames include:
    • Billiards
    • Slot Machine
    • Arcade Tennis
    • Blackjack
    • Cage Fights
New Content
  • New Locations: Explore several new areas across Abbot’s Hollow.
    • Permanent: The Murk
    • Permanent: Khan’s Firearms
    • New Temporary: Whisperwood Farm
    • Secret: The Back Alley
  • New Story & Character Scenes:
    • Added scenes for Aliya and Jane.
    • Added a secret ending.
  • New Weapons:
    • Billiard Cue: A makeshift melee weapon for when things get heated at the bar.
    • TS-1942 Submachine Gun: A firearm for when you need to make a louder statement.
Art & Visuals
  • Scene Overhaul: All of Martha’s scenes have been fully redrawn.
  • Character Portraits: Added over 17 character portraits and improved the quality of many existing ones.
  • Item Visibility: Items that can be picked up in the world now have a subtle blinking effect to make them more noticeable.
  • UI Readability: Added a background underlay to object interaction text, making it easier to read against bright surfaces.
Gameplay & Balance
  • Combat Interrupts: Your ability to interrupt an enemy’s melee attack is no longer guaranteed. The chance is now based on your Strength, calculated as 5% * (STR / 2).
  • Player Progression: Ethan’s maximum health now increases by 5 with each level up.
  • Ammo Scarcity: The source of free, infinite 7.65mm ammo has been removed from Ethan’s home. Ammunition must now be purchased.
  • Flashlight Tweak: The flashlight beam now reaches further but has a narrower cone.
Quality of Life (QoL) & UI Improvements
  • Controls & Menus:
    • Pressing ESC now closes the inventory and trade windows.
    • The pause menu can no longer be opened during cutscenes.
    • Clicking on a UI element will no longer cause your character to attack.
  • Cutscenes: Cutscenes can now be skipped by pressing the ESC key.
  • Dialogue:
    • Added an option for instant dialogue text.
    • The default speed at which dialogue text appears has been increased.
    • Saving during a dialogue scene will now correctly load you back to that exact point in the conversation.
  • Graphics: Added an option to force a 1920×1080 resolution (enabled by default).
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where some objects would render in front of the player incorrectly.
  • Fixed a bug where enemy hitboxes would not flip correctly when they faced left, leading to inaccurate hit detection.
  • Fixed a visual bug where damage numbers for the player would sometimes appear over the enemy.
  • Fixed an issue where certain UI elements could block gunshots if the mouse was hovering over them.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally prevented NPCs from using their alternative greeting lines.
  • Fixed a race condition that could cause an error and prevent weapons from being equipped if ESC was pressed immediately after changing locations.
  • Fixed player being able to walk out of scene bounds in the Mill Lane 13 location.
  • Jenkins will no longer be holding his gun after he has given it to the player.
  • Numerous small UI fixes and adjustments.
  • Various background optimizations and stability improvements.

Blackwood 0.21 Hotfix
• The player hitbox has been updated to include the entire body, not just a small area at the feet. This will make dodging attacks more challenging but makes hit detection more predictable.
• Guns are now separated into Manual and Automatic categories. Manual weapons require a click for each shot, while Automatic weapons will fire continuously as long as the trigger is held.
• Added tooltips that appear when hovering the mouse over inventory items.
• Reduced the experience gained from “The Hungry Choir” quest.
• Added an experience reward to the “Sinner’s Saint” quest.
• Fixed a bug that caused “The Hungry Choir” quest to require 1 zombie kill instead of the intended 10.
• Fixed a bug that could cause the player to become stuck when leaving or entering the church.
• Fixed an issue where “The Sinner’s Saint” quest would not complete if the player finished the objectives before accepting the quest from Jenkins.

Blackwood 0.2: Forbidden Grimoires
This version is focused on books, skills, knowledge, and lore.
New Features & Content
• Main Storyline: The main story continues with new locations, characters, quests, and new types of interactable objects.
• Twice as many new NSFW images as version 0.1.
• New Enemy Type: Ghost
System Overhauls
• Reworked Bookshelves: Instead of presenting a random text, interacting with a bookshelf now allows the player to choose a book from a list. Reading certain books can permanently increase player stats.
Expanded Dialogue System:
• Stat checks for dialogue choices have been expanded. Choices may now require any player stat to succeed, not just Persuasion.
• Dialogue choices no longer show the exact stat requirement.
• Successfully passed stat-checked dialogue paths are now removed from the list of choices to prevent reward farming.
Dialogue paths with stat checks are now color-coded for clarity:
  • Strength – Red
  • Intelligence – Blue
  • Willpower – Green
  • Constitution – Orange
  • Persuasion – Purple
  • Accuracy – Yellow
• Some dialogue paths may now require specific items in your inventory to proceed.
New Morality System:
• Introduced two morality sliders: Chaos-Order and Good-Evil. The position on these scales will influence in-game events and, ultimately, the ending.
• In addition to these sliders, NPCs also have a Love-Hate relationship slider that tracks their feelings toward Ethan. This value is influenced by your choices and will affect the NPC’s behavior and fate.
• For every 10 points above 0, you gain a +1 Persuasion bonus with that character.
• For every 10 points below 0, you receive a -1 Persuasion penalty with that character.
Bug Fixes & Quality of Life
• Inventory UI Overhaul: The inventory interface has been completely redesigned.
• Damage Pop-ups: Weapon damage text now displays the final damage after resistances, with the amount reduced or increased shown in brackets (e.g., “25 (+5)” or “15 (-5)”).
• Added a new visual effect to dialogue cutscenes.
• The game can now display multiple notification pop-ups simultaneously.
• Fixed a critical error related to the Fireball spell.
• Numerous smaller UI fixes and adjustments.
Audio
• Added sound effects for the Vampire Neophyte enemy.
• Music now gradually fades in and out during scene transitions, making them less jarring.
• Pausing the game now correctly pauses all music and sound effects.
• Fixed an issue where repeatedly pressing “New Game” in the main menu would cause sound effects to stack loudly.
General Gameplay & Stability
• Addressed a persistent issue where the interaction key (“E”) would fail to work when multiple NPCs were in range. Pressing “E” should now reliably target the nearest NPC.
• Fixed an issue where saving and loading during a weapon reload animation would interrupt the process. The reload will now complete correctly after loading.
• Fixed a bug where the chapter-start image would incorrectly display during scene transitions after returning to the main menu and starting a new game.
• Fixed an issue where the screen fade effect in cutscenes would stop working after using an intra-scene transition point.
• The Tutorial (Flashback) scene is no longer accessible after receiving the quest to speak with Father Jenkins.
• Various behind-the-scenes code tweaks and optimizations.
• Ethan no longer eats his plate during the Flashback scene.
